ID#1 IDENSITAT was initiated in Calaf in 1999 as a project that intervened in public space by means of proposals from creators in different disciplines. Beginning with an international public call, projects were selected capable of impacting upon social dynamics, and which carried (forward) investigations and experiments from previous fieldwork. This first programme went by the name of Art Públic Calaf, and was developed in the town of Calaf between 1999 and 2000. It is considered as the first programme of Idensitat, even though the name was not used until the following edition. At that moment, the basic points were established on which subsequent programmes would be founded. IDENSITAT understands creation as a work process linked with a particular space, and a concrete context, proposing mechanisms of involvement in the social sphere.

ID#2 For its second programme, IDENSITAT was developed between Calaf and Barcelona in the period 2001-2002. It was centred in the relationship of the concepts identity, density, place and community, with projects and activities developed between both municipalities. The previously used mechanism of open international call and of specific projects,  were maintained in following programmes. The concept of connections was introduced in order to incorporate research and projects coming from other cities, widening the set of activities, reinforcing the debates, the exhibitions and the publication of texts that place art in relationship to other disciplines. The participation/representation dichotomy in relation to the city was one of the catalysts of these activities. From this moment the name IDENSITAT was used to refer to the set of activities. Along its trajectory, the project has been synthesised in different ways. In this programme, IDENSITAT was outlined as a thematic axis  for projects of critical intervention and social interaction in public space.

ID#3 The city of Manresa was incorporated into the third edition realised between 2004 and 2006. This fact emphasises the concept of territory. Both of the places from which work was originated, in spite of being 25 kilometres apart, show a similar strength of character as much in their landscape as in their social density and complexity. On this occasion the subjects of growth and urban expansion were proposed as the thematic axis along which to convey the set of projects and activites. The close proximity of the two towns allowed for an examination of aspects of urban transformation, which coincided with the final moment of the effervescent constructive phase, prefiguring a scenery in construction, and a desire on the part of a majority of towns for growth in expansive progression. At that moment, the concept of educational action was incorporated, that defined the set of activities of mediation and relationship between the production of projects and other collectives that developed a local activity. In this case IDENSITAT was defined as a programme generating creative practices and investigating new forms of involvement and participation in social space.

ID#4 In the fourth edition, on the theme of "home-away", the territorial network was intensified and reinforced with the development of projects in Calaf, Manresa, and incorporating this time, the city of Mataró, in collaboration with Can Xalant Centre de Pensament i Creació contemporania and the region of Priorat, with the Priorat Centre d'Art. The different activities developed in this period, between 2007 and 2008, were carried out in these locations. The option arose to develop a continuous action in collaboration with different persons, collectives or institutions in local contexts, as well as proposals to activate mechanisms of prompt intervention in public space. The dichotomy home-away permitted projects to be conceptualised at two speeds, long and short term, alternating between two devices: one based on process and the other based on ephemeral action. IDENSITAT was defined as the observatory of territory and the laboratory of projects.
