Workshop / 9 - 12 july
IDENSITAT / LA NEGRETA (ESPAI SOCIAL DEL GÒTIC) / ÁNGELA BONADIES
9/7/19 – 12/7/19
Workshop directed by ÁNGELA BONADIES with the participation of people and organisations from Ciutat Vella projects in Barcelona.
Workshop sessions will be held in La Negreta. Carrer Nou de Sant Francesc, 21, 08002 Barcelona
ABECEDARIUM
Taking the concept of asymmetries, understood as situations of inequality or vulnerability, the idea with the workshop is to analyse how these take shape in some areas of the Ciutat Vella, as well as how certain collective options manage to mitigate them. The workshop will alternate urban tours with the viewing of examples, discussion sessions and the production of essays/visual materials related to the subject. The idea is to go into real contexts in depth, and to work critically or positively, and always respectful of those spaces in which certain fragilities acquire form.
In parallel, visual and audiovisual materials, texts and documents dealing with sensitive issues such as immigration, health, housing, exclusion or identity will be reviewed. Similar cases, and how different contexts and supports are dealt with in these cases, will be analysed. To focus and work individually or in groups, the realisation of an "illustrated alphabet" is proposed, based on the routes and the concerns raised.
Spaces and organisations around which the exploration in the Ciutat Vella will be centred:
- Jardins Sant Pau del Camp.
- Diàleg de Dones
- Plataforma per un CAP Raval Nord Digne / MACBA
- BURSÍ, Espai Veïnal
METHODOLOGY
The workshop combines dérives , routes around certain areas of the Ciutat Vella on foot, and guided visits with agents from the local context to these areas. The purpose is to attempt an overview of existing asymmetries, and to gain the necessary information to propose an analytical look at the context. The workshop will use images (photography, drawing, video) and text, with the aim of shaping the illustrated alphabet, covering a variety of topics and how they relate to the urban context. It will culminate in a joint publication which will be presented in public space, in large format.
