Three projects carried out in three cities based on the relationships, interactions, reflections or imaginations which each project upon their rivers. With the participation of David Armengol, director of La Capella; Ramon Parramon, director of Idensitat; Roser Colomar coordinator of Idensitat, Cheo Carvajal and Elisa Silva of Enlace Arquitectura, a production and research group at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, and the art collective Sitesize from Barcelona.

ESCOLA EINA WORKSHOP IN LA CAPELLA
The open seminar Rivers With Cities is part of an artistic exploration and pre-production workshop carried out with the Master’s Degree in Research in Art and Design (MURAD) of EINA-UAB, in collaboration with La Capella, and with the participation of the Municipal Swimming Pool of Sant Adrià de Besòs CEM-Besòs, the Fase creation and thought space from Hospitalet de Llobregat, the Barcelona arts collective Sitesize, and "Enlace Arquitectura", an architects’ group from Caracas’s Simon BolivarUniversity . This workshop takes place from January 31st to February 3rd, and includes an open format session that takes place in La Capella on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022 from 4 pm to 8 pm.
The workshop deploys a series of actions aiming to make an exploration-tour in urban spaces related to the environment of the rivers Besòs and Llobregat, activating a number of observational recordings (textual, visual and sound ), uncovering, or taking account of, vulnerable elements (problems, deficiencies, precariousness), and setting out ideas that respond to these uncovered elements.
As a whole, the workshop takes into account, in relation to rivers, water cycles from the anthropocentric and urbanising point of view, paying attention to the invisible urban structures that serve to capture, channel, supply, drain, clean, recycle; or those that convert riverbank spaces for free-time or leisure activities, or to cover the needs arising from inequalities and precariousness. The exploitation of rivers, their degradation, their recovery, their sustainability, are linked to the intensive and speculative uses of human activity. The anthropocentric relationship with the rivers and the tensions that this generates are treated in this workshop, and in a concentrated way in the activity Rivers With Cities.
31.01.2022: Exploration-tour from Prat de LLobregat to Hospitalet de Llobregat, crossing the river. Dialogue with Mercedes Pimiento about her artistic work and the initiatives of FASE, Espacio de Creación y Pensamiento.
01.02.2022: Visit to the Besòs Municipal Sports Centre Swimming Pool, with coordinator Inés Borges, to learn about the water cycle of a swimming pool, how the human body makes use of this artificial water space; and discovering the space under the swimming pool, a space full of machinery and architectural and water infrastructure.
