Approach
Before eating, we build a table; before speaking, we build a table; before celebrating, we build a table; in order to get to know each other, we build a table. And this table is built as a vehicular element and as a way of creating a myriad of situations to celebrate being together in our spare time; workshops and talks to share our knowledge, making a radio programme, putting together publications, cooking and eating together, and many other possibilities. And to climb on the table to create different experiences, and to hold concerts, or to share something which needs somewhere to raise your voice. And perhaps to take refuge underneath the table for storytelling, to experience a change of scale, see outwards to the world with new eyes. The project sets up situations to energise participants, and to create new ways of relating in an environment which is supportive of leisure, perhaps this time on all fours. Because we think that A Cuatro Patas (On all fours) is also a question of attitude. Perhaps if we remembered that quadruped more clearly, we might come a little closer to what we ate and what we were.
Round table, square or what? An activity forming part of Nyamnyam's "On Four Legs" residence
Saturday, February 16th, Gothic cloister, Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània
From the starting point of setting the table as a context and a space for action, the group Nyamnyam will organise the first open day of the project On Four Legs. There will be a picaeta, a selection of little dishes of finger food, in the cloister, while displaying the materials - and the stories - which have been recovered from the Centre del Carme's warehouse to collectively plan and construct these tables. What is a table? How can we use a table – as a stage, as a shelter, or as a table - in the town square? Can we create leisure without generating consumption? Does the table make a public space into a private space? Should it end up burning in the Falles Festival? Through drawing, assembling, playing, video, drinking and chatting, we want to give a form to these tables which will arrive in Plaça del Carme on March 2nd and 3rd, for everyone's use.
OCI ACÍ
Presentation of Nyamnyam‘s residence "A quatre potes"
Date: Saturday, March 2nd
Place: Centro del Carmen Contemporary Culture
Time: from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
After the opening of the project, the possible tables / contexts generated in "A quatre potes" take shape through the ideas, drawings, words, materials and interventions of the people who joined us, and who gave a new look to the materials recovered from the Centro del Carmen warehouse. Now we want these tables to be activated, starting with the focal points of work developed in collaboration with various agents who form the social fabric within the neighbourhood and the town. These focal points are: Food and gentrification; Public space vs. private space; and Leisure without consumption. These subjects are the legs of the table that we are building. But what about the fourth leg? An ongoing space of open editing, a kind of laboratory in which to try out various roles, which will work throughout the day in parallel with the activities, advancing new thinking, open dialogues, and the creation of materials that will form part of the project‘s publication.
We do not wish these four legs to be static, we wish to build each table before using it, we wish all this content to arrive in an experiential way, and not only through a unidirectional word. We wish to create a transgenerational space, we would like to have breakfast together, we would like to activate play, we want to make radio, we wish to to eat products from the garden, we wish to show different realities, we wish to make a participatory publication, we want lunch at midday to celebrate the daily action of being together.

Nyamnyam (Barcelona)
A platform created in 2012 by artists Iñaki Álvarez and Ariadna Rodríguez. Bringing together their education and miseducation in various disciplines, their work aims to promote creation, reflection, the exchange of knowledge and culture through strategies of participation and interaction, with the aim of generating dialogue. They use the dynamics and the tools of artistic creation in projects placed in each g-local context in which they work. In this cross between art, thought, pedagogy, social interaction and food, they create situations to energise, activate or recover modes of relationship and contact throughout the social fabric. They have carried out projects of sharing in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, USA and Colombia.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The Educational Activities is a part of the project ECOSYSTEMS OF LEISURE, and the results will be presented along with the rest of the activities proposed by the project. They will take place between September 2018 and May 2019, based upon a series of collaborations with different fields of university education and research.
