Presentation of the audiovisual documentary Leisure Ecosystems

This audiovisual story is one of the resulting productions which forms part of the Transversal Esthetic – Leisure Ecosystems programme by Idensitat, in collaboration with the Consorci de Meuseus de la Comunitat Valenciana, developed in Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia between 2018 and 2019, on the subject of how leisure occupies the contemporary city, and how we relate to it.



The documentary is a collection of interventions by several members of the local research node, a group of agents connected in one form or another to the theme of leisure, through experience in architecture, urbanism, education, social movements, or artistic practices, and who have collaborated in various phases of the programme.

This documentary invokes various conceptions, consequences and relationships of contemporary leisure:


What is meant by leisure?

Landscape, countryside, model city
Leisure time, freedtime, time and productivity
Spaces of consumption, tourism, identity
Learning, common spaces.


The theme of leisure is addressed through open and present perspectives in many contemporary urban contexts, but also through local examples, with the cases of Creixem al Carme and Falles Populars i Combatives, two groups from the city of Valencia. 




Taking part in the video: Lluc Mayol (educator and visual artist), Ester Gisbert (researcher and lecturer of architectural projects at the UA), Jodie Dinapoli (researcher and member of Creixem al Carme), Chema Segovia (urban planner and architect), Júlia Pineda (Architect and member of Falles Populars i combatives), Mijo Miquel (visual artist and lecturer of Fine Arts at the UPV), David Estal (architect), Ramon Parramon and Roser Colomar, director and coordinator of Idensitat.

 

The Leisure Ecosystem programme has established three artistic residences and a series of university collaborations; in Alicante, working with the Architectural Projects Department of the Higher School of Architecture of the University of Alicante, and artists in residence Pere Granero, Ona Beneït, Carlos Pastor and David Vegara; in Castellón, working with the Degree course in Video game Design, the Master's Degree in Psychopedagogy at the Universitat Jaume, and the residence of the ideadestroyingmuros collective; in Valencia, working with the "Tactics of intervention in public space" course in the Degree in Fine Arts, "Theory and visual practices in the contemporary city" in the Master’s degree course in Artistic Production at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the residence of the collective Nyamnyam (Ariadna Rodríguez and Iñaki Álvarez).
