Transversal Aesthetics. Situarse (Reframing)
Locations, residencies and mediations

Huarte, June 12th-13th, 2025
Barcelona, October 9th-10th, 2025

Transversal Aesthetics is a programme of artistic research and experimentation residencies at the intersection of art, mediation, and social space. Has been promoted by Centro Huarte and Idensitat since 2017. In 2025, in its seventh edition, we have decided to set up meeting places for analysing, reflecting upon, and sharing methodologies regarding artistic programmes which include residencies in specific local contexts.

Situarse (Reframing) is an encounter which combines internal debate with various invited guest contributors,  and a public segment with workshops and talks open to anyone interested in the themes and issues raised. The encounter will take place on two different dates: Huarte, June 12th and 13th, and Barcelona, October 9th and 10th.

We, the programme’s organisers, are taking this time to refocus on the methodologies and formats which we have explored over the years. We have invited other professionals with whom we share perspectives, strategies, and critical thinking, creating a framework for internal debate which will allow us to continue the programme in future editions based on shared reflection.

Some of the inciting questions for this programme are:

Could mediation activities function as spaces for content production, interaction, or learning transfer? Could we uphold the concept of “location” as a space which connects a theme with a specific active surrounding social space? What do we mean by context-mediated residencies? Why are context-mediated residencies necessary? What kind of networks, connections, or exchanges are generated between artistic projects and the social agents involved? Is there excessive replication of strategies and methodologies? What have we learned that we can share? What do artistic residencies contribute to the local contexts? How might research, production, and transformation be combined in connection to a specific local context?

The cultural agents invited to this internal working group are professionals who share perspectives, experiences, and ways of understanding mediation and arts which approximate our own. They will function as our mirror during this shared time. Participants: Sören Meschede, Nerea de Diego, Leire San Martin, Disbel Roque (Paisanaje), Marc Vives, Marta Gracia, Betisa Ojanguren and Oskia Ugarte (Centro Huarte), Ramon Parramon, and Irati Irulegi (Idensitat).

We have invited Colectivo Larre to mediate these internal processes and working meetings with the intention of generating a space for collective reflection and questioning around the proposed themes.

Programme in Huarte

Thursday, June 12th 2025

10 a.m.-10.30 a.m. | Welcome with coffee and tea
10.30 a.m.-13.30 p.m. | Workshop ‘Warming up. Listening Exercises’ with Marc Vives. This workshop marks the start of the group's shared time.
A session in which to consider the warm-up and to grant it a space of importance; dedicating an amount of time to prepare the task for later, lending it the same importance as the activity itself, activating attention and perception, towards oneself as well as others. In this starting workshop the group will practice with ad hoc systemic tools to exchange roles, and to emphasise places of fragility.

Marc Vives Muñoz (Barcelona, 1978) sings and swims between performance and visual arts. He works with the materiality of the voice in its sculptural potential, with the objectives of infiltrating architectures, landscapes, and other bodies, and of reformulating an established order. Its scope of involvement extends beyond artistic practice and he is dedicated to pedagogy, curating, and management, seeking to collectively transform the contextual model. He has developed this work from GRAF, a platform for the cohesion of the artistic circuit in Catalonia, created in 2013.

4 a.m.- 7 p.m. Internal meeting - space for sharing - facilitated by Larre with the participation of the guest working group.

Friday, June 13th 2025

10 a.m.-10.30 a.m. | Welcome with coffee and tea
10.30 a.m.-13.30 p.m. | Internal meeting - space for sharing - facilitated by Larre

4.30 a.m.- 7.30 p.m. | Workshop ‘A ritual which resituates’ with Lara Molina and Alba Fernández to close the meeting.
Combining formats such as collective reflection, and sensorial, meditative, and appreciative experiences, this workshop represents an invitation to share fluid practices of attunement among its participants, including humans and more-than-humans. This workshop is to consider the context together with the artistic community of the Centro Huarte, as well as others who, in turn, can expand relationships with other beings; weird relationships which lead us towards a more sustainable understanding of each other, in a ritual fashion, a kind gesture towards the other, when something ends in the present to open later in desire.
Because sometimes imagining current-futures involves stopping, listening, and mending the connections which sustain us.

Alba Fernández is a creator, mediator and researcher. Her practice intersects live arts mediation with collective creation in dance, music and performance. She investigates and promotes practices of access to culture based on inclusion and diversity, generating spaces for encounters and reflection between people with a plurality of trajectories, identities, and bodies. She is currently developing the Gure Berbena programme at Tabakalera.

Lara Molina develops her practice on the crossroads between production, mediation and cultural communication. She curates the public programme erraiak, which activates links between contemporary culture and the local context. She is co-founder and a member of collective initiatives and cultural militancy projects such as La Zurda and plazeratu, seeking to create meeting spaces from an intersectional and situated perspective in the territory in which they take place. She has previously worked in institutions such as the Spanish Embassy in Brussels, the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission, and the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Huarte.
