Hangar + Ecuadorian Association of Ecuavolei in Catalonia

IDENSITAT, in collaboration with HANGAR and the Equadorean Association of Equavolley in Catalonia organised a workshop for building and programming digital scoreboards and mobile devices, aimed to be used in  matches of equavolley (a kind of volleyball played in Ecuador). The workshop was conceived as an exercise in applying creativity and digital technologies to sports and community development, and also as a space for negotiation and learning between participants in an exchange of skills and knowledge.

Participants were: Alex Posada (Digital Creator and Researcher in the field of Interactivity and New Media), Befaco.org (Artists association resident in Hangar, supporting electronic musicians who need to construct their own instruments, Ramon Parramon (Artist, Curator, Director of ACVic, Centre d’Arts Contemporànies and Director and Funder of IDENSITAT), Gaspar Maza Gutiérrez (Antrhopologist, Lecturer at URV, and coordinator of the project for social inclusion of the Plan A+D, led by the Spanish Sports Council), Xavi Camino (Anthropologist and Lecturer at ELISAVA), Roser Caminal (Artist), and members of de Equadorean Association of Equavolley in Catalonia (organisation working for inclusion and social cohesion through the practice of equavolley).

IDENSITAT. is an arts project investigating ways of impacting upon the public sphere through creative proposals related to place and territory in their spatial, temporal and social dimensions.

HANGAR. Centre for art research and production located in the industrial complex of Can Ricart, in Poblenou (Barcelona). The centre offers an array of services, and a framework that allows for the research and development of art productions in their entirety, or in part. Hangar follows up on the results by including the projects in various networks and platforms, or by detecting possibilities for their incorporation within other fields. Hangar is mainly funded by the Regional Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, and enjoys the specific collaboration of the AECID for its grants programme, the Banc de Sabadell Foundation for resident artists’ activities, and the Ministry of Culture, the Provincial Council of Barcelona, and the European Commission for the development of specific projects. www.hangar.org
