Activitats Fase2 21 Agulla i fil

6th BIENNAL D’AGULLA I FIL Sewing as a form of writing and other contemporary incisions
The 6th Biennal d’Agulla i Fil is the work process of Medizine (Jess Espinoza) about sewing as a form of writing and other contemporary incisions, developed as part of the Loom programme of Living In-between, in collaboration with Ateneu L’Harmonia. From the Biennal d’Agulla i Fil’s nomad office, the Medizine group invites locals and anyone else interested, to take part in the collaborative textile research and creation process Biennal d’Agulla i Fil. Different generations will come together to chat, sew and draw about subjects ranging from current regulations on labour rights for domestic handicrafts (dressmakers, self-employed, designers, craft production) to work-related musculoskeletal problems, remembering local proverbs and stories based on the daily fabric. All this will evolve in the creation of a radio programme, design of fanzines and work with screen printing.

CUINA EN VIU / LIVE COOKING UNIVERSITY. RETURN PROCESS SESSION

Cuina en viu / Live Cooking University. Return process session
From 16:30 to 18:00, 1st floor of Fabra i Coats - Contemporary Art Centre, Barcelona
Activity free of charge

From October 2016 to February 2017 the Live Cooking University workshop-course has been held as part of the Living In-between programme. The Live Cooking University proposes a review and exploration of professional learning experimental models based on collaborative practices, by creating a workgroup for discussing, creating alternatives and reflecting on the cross-cutting and pivotal model between institutional and non-institutional education centres.

In this "give back" session, the various results and conclusions of the process were presented, as well as the seven recipes prepared, subjecting them to the judgement of people outwith the working group with the aim of constructing a project that would allow the sharing of a variety of perspectives, becoming a meeting point for other projects, organisations and transversal initiatives. So, we invited all those interested in the project to keep on building upon and sharing ideas based upon this initial development.
This course formed part of the Inter-Accions project, led by the Mixité collective (Marta Carrasco and Sergi Selvas). For more information, and to consult the recipes: www.inter-accions.org

CohabitarEntre Fase2

Opening of the second phase of  Cohabitar Entre-: Weaving the city
Date: 22 October 2016
Venue: Fabra i Coats Centre d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona

In this second phase the programme is proposed as a research process with which to analyse in depth how contemporary cultural practices can function as a tool for weaving the city. From this viewpoint, the urban is understood as something diverse in motion, organic, in transit and undergoing constant mutation. The city is presented to us as the weft upon which to weave other ways of constructing citizenship, of defending rights, of interweaving new alliances between culture, society and territories; in short, of situating ourselves, inhabiting and building the city between all of us.

Activitat06 taller 07curro OK

Workshop of designs and initiatives for a care centre for homeless people
27 June, 2016 - 10:00 to 1 July, 2016 - 14:00
Workshop led by Curro Claret
With the collaboration of the Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design, the Arrels Foundation and the Alencop Cooperative.
Dates: 27, 28, 29, 30 June and 1 July, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Place: Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design

The workshop covers the research into and proposal of interventions for a centre offering temporary care, accommodation and meals for people who have lived on the streets. The Arrels Foundation’s centre is the Pere Barnés Home.
The aim is to put forward ideas and solutions adapted to the activities and services offered by the centre.
Based on understanding how it functions and meeting some of its users, the idea will be to detect opportunities for improvement in order to make proposals, through models or prototypes, and carry out a presentation of these to the residents.
The fact that the workshop is of a short duration and that contact with people at the centre is occasional means that the proposals have to be made openly, seeking elements for interaction and intervention by people from the centre. Everything that is proposed will be a set of “elements for dialogue” that can be deployed in subsequent phases. The work material is based on the reuse of scrap metals and wood mainly collected by the Alencop cooperative. A selection of the results from the workshop will be incorporated into the exhibition In Transition, which forms part of the Living In-between project at Fabra i Coats Contemporary Art Centre.

The workshop is aimed at designers, artists, architects or people interested in the social aspects of design and contemporary creation.

Own Rooms 2. Cultural policies, art, education and mediation.
22 June, 2016 / 18:30h
Marcelo Lucero (Acciona Project, Department of Education and Trainnig in Arts and Culture of the National Council for Culture and Arts | Government of Chile) + Oscar Abril Ascaso, Director of Cultural Sectors and Innovation of the City council of Barcelona + Judit Vidiella (Member of Col·lectivaccions).

A three-way conversation to explore the cultural policies in specific contexts and from different institutional spheres, about the relationship between art, education or various forms of mediation. Projects, experiences and proposals that builds hybrid spaces.

The ways of constructing, using and inhabiting culture display a wide variety of forms and manners of directing and managing cultural institutions. From informal, emerging, base or self-managed spaces to major city or national facilities and institutions. Within the context of the Living in-between project currently running at the Fabra i Coats Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona, the centre has programmed a series of inter-crossing conversations between people who, either independently or linked to institutions, can offer diverse viewpoints, experiences and knowledge.

With the title Own Rooms – in tribute to the book A Room of One’s Own , by Virginia Woolf – we aim to open up spaces for debate, conversation, crossovers and distances between different ways of thinking about our own rooms in culture: how they relate to each other, what it is advocated that they should contain, or who can inhabit them and for what uses.

The series is presented on a regular basis once a month, with brief interventions by the guests and a debate open to all those attending.

Night of Museums
21 May, 2016 / 19:30 to 23:45

BLAU (BLUE) A collective creation experience produced by teenagers. BLAU (BLUE) is a 20-minute play for theatre resulting from artistic creation work carried out in July 2015 between the Martí i Franquès Institute Events Hall and Nau Ivanow in Barcelona.
20:00h guided tour.
22:00h the dissemination of Art. The media have a major responsibility towards what art and artists represent, as they often insist on topics or focus on certain events above others. Has the Internet changed the indefatigable romantic narrative of art? Andrés Hispano and Félix Pérez-Hita will talk about new directions being taken by the dissemination of art in the media and the new attitudes of cultural audiences. From what is now an old problem of the marriage between art and advertising, in commercial brands and in branded cities and countries alike, to the numerous social and political projects being hosted today by museums and other institutions. They will also discuss the imposition of immediacy in the transmission of data and the brevity of formats, often to the detriment of quality or of potential complexity.
