M1 Project
Anaïs Bas Mantilla, Catarina Eisele Cabral, Irati Ezeiza i Rita Rabaça were the artists behind this project who, supervised by Xavi Camino, developed a work process based on analysis and negotiation with different people and collectives from the district of La Marina in Barcelona. The project was carried out in close collaboration with the Union of associations of La Marina and it is part, at the same time, of their project Coexistence.
The project focused on the social complexity generated by the diversity and dispersion of the various urban cores which shape the district. By constructing a mobile device, the artists attempted to promote coexistence and to create interaction between residents from different parts of the district. They also attempted to transform public spaces by displaying traditional activities practised within the locality. The artists decided to construct the device with recycled materials, aiming for coherence with the district's industrial environment, and to raise awareness of the opportunities of recycling.
From September the 30th to October the 8th 2011, the mobile device toured La Marina, stopping in five different locations, offering residents a physical space, in which to undertake different kinds of activities, some proposed by the artists themselves (such as a furniture workshop), others proposed by various district bodies.
In November 2010, Idensitat, in collaboration with the Union of Associations of La Marina, organised the workshop iD Barri BCN [La Marina], which focused on developing fieldwork in the district of La Marina, aiming to assemble oral, visual and other types of data, and to construct devices for exhibiting these data, as well as devices for direct action within the district. The workshop was led by Hackitectura collective [José Pérez de Lama, Sergio Moreno Páez, Pablo de Soto, Laura Hernández Andrade, Jaime Díez Honrado, Ale González] and among the participants were Núria Burguillos, Xavi Camino, Col·lectiu Connectats, Francesc Magrinyà, Oriol Granados, Ramon Parramon, Martí Peran, Elisenda Tomàs i Mireia Tortades.
The participants of the workshop were: Adela Simón, Ana Candenas, Anaïs Bas, Carolina Bonfim, Catarina Eisele, Dimas Carrasco, Elionor Sintes, Emanuela Bove, Filipe Correia, Francesco Cocco, Gema Herrero, Giuseppe Libertino, Irati Ezeiza, Isabel Codina, Iván Martínez, Jaime Esparza, Jordi Pruna, Jordi Valls, Karen Lira, Leticia Berrizbeitia, Maria Rios, Mauricio Marquez, Miguel Angel Cepeda, Nicola Scandroglio, Nuria Manso, Raimondo Pibiri, Ricard Escudero, Rita Rabaça, Senén Roy and Simonetta Gorga. Participants formulated their proposals under the supervision of Hackitectura, and with the support of Idensitat's team, and other collaborators. M1 Project was chosen from among all the workshop proposals, and wasproduced through 2011.

iD Barrio is a project linked to Idensitat that works as a space observatory and a laboratory for the development of creative processes that connect to certain local social realities that are registered in micro-spaces of contemporary urban concentrations. The project aims to estimulate collective creativity and cultural exchange as ways of development and transformation of the territory.
iD Barrio has been organised before in places like Calaf, Barcelona, La Marina-Zona Franca and São Paulo. Titled iD Barrio BDN Import / Export, this time the project will interact with the neighborhood of Gorg, in Badalona.
iD Barrii is a project which became a territorial observatory and a laboratory for the development of creative processes connected with social and local action. Activities connected to microcontexts which form part of contemporary urban concentrations. ID District was created with the intention of stimulating collective creativity and cultural exchange, as well as to develop and transform the landscape of a district through creative processes fuelled by the relationship between artistic practice and local social space . To analyse in order to understand the dynamics of space, to visualise in order to interpret the various connections operating within specific places, to project in order to design new productive dynamics, to collaborate in order to enhance and multiply creative abilities. iD Barri is a project to integrate artistic processes within other social processes, to bring closer together transdisciplinarity, social participation, and those cracks which allow us to create, by means of collective methodologies, new references in those environs in which iD Barrio performs.
iD Barrii has been previously organised in Calaf, in the district of Raval (Barcelona), in the district of Gorg (Badalona), Bom Retiro and Santo Amaro (São Paulo). In this case, the project was developed in the district of La Marina. La Marina de Port is a new district in the old Zona Franca, part of Sants-Montjuïc district, in Barcelona.
iD Barrii BCN [La Marina] was a project by IDENSITAT, in collaboration with La Unió d’Entitats de La Marina and the Institut de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona, Generalitat de Catalunya, Consell Nacional de la Cultura i les Arts, Hangar and PAuS (Escola Tècnica Superior dArquitectura del Vallès, UPC)
La Unió d’Entitats de La Marina (UELM) is an umbrella organisation, bringing together various district associations from La Marina de Port and La Marina del Prat Vermell, situated to the south of Barcelona, within the district of Sants-Montjuïc. UELM started in 1987, with the aim of weaving together a fabric of assocations from La Marina, giving support and services to the different associations, promoting and skills exchange. After more than 2 decades, and with 35 member bodies, it continues to work for consolidation and social cohesion among associations.
IDENSITAT is an arts project investigating ways of impacting upon the public sphere through creative proposals related to place and territory in their spatial, temporal and social dimensions. Since its beginning in 1999, IDENSITAT has been in continuous transformation to become a complex system, incorporating other projects, actions or interventions, promoting processes, organising exhibitions, publishing..., altogether deploying a variety of creative strategies to realise an activity or set of activities. A system based on collaborative dynamics in order to build a relationship between contemporary artistic practices and social space, through research, production, education in a particular context, and distribution throughout a wider context. Under the rubric of, "to experiment with a location to transform artistic practices, and to experiment with artistic practices to transform the location", IDENSITAT highlights the active role which art plays in social context.
