iD #5 The fifth edition of IDENSITAT will be developed between the end of 2008 and beginning of 2010.
iD is Identity | Density, a synthesis that initially gave its name to the project, but which could also mean Investigate | Develop - Invent | Discover - Involve | Denounce - Interrogate | Discuss - Innovation | Decrease among other multiple combinations of terms.
In November 2008, iD#5 opened an international call for entries, directed to creators with proposals in the sphere of public space; creators who have a crossdisciplinary perspective and who wish to interact using a variety of strategies in the social space of the contexts involved. These are Calaf, Manresa, and particularly in this edition El Prat de Llobregat. The Calaf Town Hall has been involved with IDENSITAT since its beginning in 1999 and the Manresa Town Hall joined the project in 2004. Both town halls constitute the main field for IDENSITAT`s activities. The Prat de Llobregat Town Hall was incorporated in iD#5 with a specific project or artistic intervention on the water reservoir of the Plaça de Catalunya in el Prat de Llobregat. ID #5 Prat de Llobregat is part of the Observatori El Prat de Llobregat Project.
The open call for entries had two categories, production projects and documentation projects. Other shared projects and parallel activities are also realized in Mataró, in collaboration with Can Xalant, in the region of Priorat, in collaboration with Priorat Centre d`Art, in Sondika, in collaboration with Consonni, and in Barcelona in collaboration with la Capella.
Between November 2008 and Enero 2009, IDENSITAT received 310 projects from different countries, involving more than 500 people, since many were group projects. Following are the countries that had a significant presence, in descending order: Spain, United States of America, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France and the United Kingdom. iD#5 also received projects from Israel, Netherlands, Chile, Mexico, Canada, Portugal, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Hungary, Japan, Colombia, Uruguay, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Croatia and Panama. The selection of 19 projects, plus the 4 invited add up to 23 projects to be developed during iD#5. The artists for the invited projects are: Josep-Maria Martín, Democracia, Rogelio López Cuenca, and La Más bella for Calaf, Manresa, Mataro and Priorat.
A selection committee, formed by six specialists in creative fields related to the public space, was in charge for the selection of the proposals that would be developed in Calaf and Manresa. The committee met in Calaf, from January 30 to February 1, 2009, and observed the quality of the proposals, which in majority brought creative and experimental solutions to the proposed framework.
The selection committee was formed by:
