PROYECTO LABERINTO.

Colectivo Laberinto.

Formed by a group of artists and social sciences professionals from Colombia, currently resident in Barcelona, proposed the Proyecto Laberinto to bring different immigrant voices to the public domain. The proposal comprised three parts, developed simultaneously and interdependent:an installation in public space, a children's workshop and a collective gathering day.

The "Proyecto Laberinto" arose through reflecting upon migration. It is approached from a dual perspective: emigration and immigration. These two poles constitute the reality of an issue in public debate among countries of the European Union, reflected in the appearance of two new immigration laws in just two years in Spain. The Laberinto Project emerges as a net, which leaves also empty spaces where the viewer becomes expectant, a sort of tramp running intricate paths as the ones who one day decided to abandon the known territories to become a border permeable or not to all outside his affective contours.

SO NEAR, SO FAR AWAY. IMAGES OF AN ITINERARY.

Montserrat Cortadellas.

Project developed by the artist Montserrat Cortadellas along with the primary and secondary schools of Calaf. The project's aim is to analyse visual elements the pupils face in their day to day experience, in an attempt to reveal signs that usually pass unobserved in the urban environment. After a compilation of graphical material by the students, these elements were analysed and finally formalised as a work, which included drawing murals, and interventions of land art, according to the academic level of different groups.

All material generated was collected in a final publication, [a] prop.

PROJECT MOLÍ DE CALAF

Lara Almarcegui - Santiago Cirugeda

Project of social interaction promoted by artists Lara Almárcergui and Santiago Cirugeda, based on speculation about processes of information that remain hidden in the public area. The project took two themes as an object of the work: the monumental mill for the extraction of water established in the town as a prototype, and which was withdrawn without explanation after a number of years; and rumours of the hypothetical existence of uranium mines close to the village, which might be the reason for high cancer rates among the population.

The process developed through interviews with the inhabitants, culminating in the results of the research with a party in which they explained the results of the investigations on the chosen subjects.

LA EXPERIENCIA DE LA APARICIÓN

Patricio Vogel, Marcelo Prado.

The project "la experiencia de la aparición" starts from the space / time / inhabit relationship between Calaf and Barcelona through reflection on temporary and material changes produced by the development of the city itself. The center and the periphery is questioned, as well as the processes of city-zoning which generates communities and specific activities. Through particular images of urban landscape, fragmentary stories, visions on the periphery, the articulation of the memory of the place, the disarticulation of the City through the use of numbers; by means of all these elements, a work of visual, narrative and textual interaction among identity, place, density and community through a net of relations, is composed.

LOVE STORY

Mariano Maturana, Maite Ninou.

Barcelona. Love Story consists of a contemporary love story, reconstructed and narrated by a performer during a journey between Barcelona and Calaf in a tourist bus, using the techniques of tourism operators. The stories come from real characters with recent experience and a relationship to the urban context, to obtain another layer composing the memory of the place. During the journey several places will be shown where the love story happened. In this way the public will have an intimate journey to those urban places where usually nobody stops, where apparently there is a lack of history or where daily urban life just goes by.

MEMORY BANKS

Oswaldo Macià.

Using the theme of collective memory, the project will develop an oral sculpture constructed from the testimony of a hundred or so adult women voices, gathering different social strata and different languages, including voices from different waves of migration, past and recent past. The phonetic symphony will be based on this variety of languages and will be comprised of intimate stories on the subject of memory constructed as a common space and as a place of refuge. The construction of this work will be realised with the collaboration of students to conduct interviews in public and social centres: hospitals, prisons, old-folks' residences, etc. Part of these interviews will be made into a radio program.

The work may take different formats, including a radio program, and a web page, as well as an audio CD which may be located in different physical public spaces.

AIXÓ SEMBLA EL MERCAT DE CALAF

Annamaria Ferrero, Massimo di Nonno.

This project's line of artistic performance statrs by considering the arts as an instrument to confront a diverse reality and to create related micro-environments between the artists, people and the places where the project is developed. A work based on the contamination between arts and other disciplines, such as anthropology, history, sociology, urban planning; far from the self -referentiality and the construction of an autonomous and closed world that currently defines artistic tradition.

The development of initial fieldwork is indispensable to focus on the relationship between the community and the proposal of a particular project of performance in the public space, taking into account that the creative process is a long process in which time is an element fundamental to penetrate deeply into the context.
